Ainsdale Community Wildlife Trust was established in August 2013 and was awarded charitable status at the time of the launch in September 2013.
It was set up by a local group and has wide community support. Its aim is to protect the part of the Ainsdale dune system lying inland of the high dunes alongside the Birkdale Sand hills Nature Reserve which is managed by Sefton Council.
The Trust recognised the richness of Ainsdale’s environmental heritage and the need to protect it for the local community and future generations.
The importance of this location as a wildlife site should be retained and the natural environment enjoyed and accessed by all.
The site is currently the playing fields of the former Ainsdale Hope High School which were originally created from levelled sand dunes.
Our aim is to develop a low dune nature reserve that can be enjoyed by all including the elderly, those with disabilities and young people.
